Students will be required to participate in an online query of a selected topic related to one area of study in human physiology that impacts scientific, medical, social, and political culture. The final written summary will be presented orally to the class. Students must receive approval of their topics. The criteria of this three-part assignment are described below.

Part I. Reference Assignment (10% of Total)

Identify one area of study in human physiology that impacts scientific/medical, social, and political culture. Obtain references on your selected topic.
Obtain seven (7) primary references on your topic from biological journals. These articles must be retrieved electronically from an appropriate database that accesses biological/medical journals. Make sure that at least one (1) of the articles is written about a study on your topic. Journal articles that contain a literature review or introduction, a hypothesis, methods/ materials and/or research method, data, and summary of results and conclusions are called primary source articles. (21 points)
Obtain three (3) secondary sources (a book, a review paper, and a website) that contain information on your topic. (9 points)
