T‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍his brief case study describes the background to the 2022 walkout by Disney employees as a response to the company’s perceived lack of action on LGBTQ+ rights. It also describes a series of actions that Disney undertook as a response to employee protests. As an advisor to Disney’s newly established task force, your role is to a) provide an assessment of how Disney’s actions contribute to its social responsibility goals and b) make recommendations on how the company can build an inclusive, diverse organization for staff, including those with diverse sexual orientations. Your arguments must be supported by the case study itself and you must use outside resources to inform your recommendations. Here is a breakdown of what you must include in your report (in bold), along with several questions we highly recommend you consider in order to fully address the question: 1. Provide an assessment of how Disney’s actions contribute to its social responsibility goals. ? What is your understanding of Disney’s stance on corporate social responsibility? (see our tips and resources for a starting point on how to address this question). ? Did Disney’s actions support the achievement of its goals? ? Based on the incident described, how would you classify Disney on the Workplace Inclusion Continuum? ? Does Disney practice business ethics? ? How might wider external factors (e.g. political) and competitive strategy have influenced the organizational culture and approach to DEI? ? How does power and influence play out at Disney? 2. Make recommendations on how the company can build an inclusive, diverse organization for staff, including those with diverse sexual orientations. ? Why should Disney pursue DEI? ? Which (if any) of the three pi‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍llars of DEI should be prioritized and why? ? What are other companies doing in this space? ? How can Disney balance the needs of its various stakeholders? ? What specific diversity, equity and inclusion objectives should Disney pursue? ? What actions should the company take to address the DEI objectives you have outlined? ? What kind of resources are necessary to achieve the objectives? ? What will be the impact of your plans? ? How can Disney measure impact? ? What are the risks of your recommendations and how could those risks be mitigated? Assignment Requirements ? Your report should be around 1700 words long, including a range of charts, figures and imagery. ? You may assume that the audience is familiar with the case study materials; avoid explicit summaries of large portions of the case study materials. ? You must specific facts and examples from the case study to support your answers, as well as any outside sources you may have used to support your evaluation and recommendations. ? We recommend that you include: ? A one-page executive summary that summarizes the entire report; ? A very brief introduction to the task; ? An analysis of Disney’s current challenges using appropriate frameworks, concepts and tools from the Organizational Behavior concentration ? A discussion of specific, actionable recommendations for the organization ? An execution plan outlining objectives to meet, tasks to be completed, resources required, and methods of measuring impact. ? A full list of additional sources used. Tips & Resources ?
