[Description] Read Jonathan Swift's essay "Meditation upon a Broomstick" (file in Canvas); then write a meditation one on of the following objects: AA battery, butter knife, ceramic mug, corkscrew, crowbar, door chain, electrical outlet, emery board, felt-tip pen, flat-head screwdriver, Phillips head screwdriver, scented drawstring garbage bag, scrub sponge, shoehorn, spatula, staple, tuning peg, whisk, white board, wooden ruler. Consider the object's material, function, and components. Then consider the symbolic significance of the object. In his essay, Swift writes, "Surely Mortal Man is a Broomstick!" How can the object you've chosen be thought of as a person?
