Dystopia

Josh Gibbens' poem,  "Dystopia," captures a tyrannical world where individual freedom is disallowed.  The citizens in this world are mere "shadows" (7) who live in a gray world with cold-hearted leaders.  The speaker in the poem knows that there was a better world; he "dream[s]" (15) of a life of unique people where individual creativity is encouraged.

His poem captures a dystopian society, indeed.  In a short response (150-200 words, explain how this poem reminds you of a dystopian book or movie you've seen (Divergent, The Matrix, WALL-E . . . If you are stuck, google "dystopian movies and books").  Specific comparisons between the poem and the book or movie need to be clearly articulated.
